Apple’s long lost co-founder Ron Wayne finally does another interview. For those of you who don’t know, this is the man who actually designed the first Apple logo (the rainbow Apple logo). The reason why he isn’t as well known as Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, or Mike Markkula is that Wayne unfortunately sold all his apple shares right before apple had their big success.
Surprisingly Wayne doesn’t seem to upset about giving up his fortune decades ago, at the time he sold them for about $2000 (which today would be worth somewhere around $1.2 billion), in fact he seems proud to be a part of their history. If it was me, I’d be extremely upset with myself, but he does a great job explaining how Apple formed in the video above, and what it was like meeting Steve Jobs in the video below. Excelent video in spirit of Steve Jobs resignation.
If you want a more indepth look at Apple’s past, I highly suggest checking out “Triumph of the Nerds”.
Q4Y: If you were in a startup burning through cash (like Apple was back then) would you hold onto your stock, or sell it?
