iPad Fridge Magnet

People to this day still ask me what’s the point of an iPad if you can get a netbook for the same price? Well can your netbook do this?

Well although this Is probably not the smartest thing to do with your iPad and smart cover, you have to admit the idea of putting your iPad on a fridge would be extremely useful! Especially when doing those lengthy tasks like cooking or washing dishes.

Well luckily Woodford Designs has already thought of this, and the guys over at Thinkgeek were nice enough to send me one!

Look and feel

I have to say, I was a extremely nervous when trying out this accessory, but I’m happy to say that it’s amazing! Works just as advertised. Obviously there are two main parts to this “Fridgepad recipe” that need to be perfect for this to be a success: A powerful magnet and strong holster.

Well in this specific accessory I can say one thing for sure, the magnet is STRONG. I had to put that in bold and caps just so you get the idea, if you haven’t already, check out the video above, it actually startled me a bit when I put the magnet against the fridge, it made a huge “CLACK” noise upon hitting the fridge from all of the magnetic attraction… Lets just say your iPad isn’t moving anywhere! I was actually able to open and move my entire fridge using this magnet as a handle. Obviously with a magnet this strong you might be wondering how you remove it? Well they created a latch on the side for easy removal.

The other part of the recipe that needs to be perfect is the holster, now this case is made out of EXTREMELY tough plastic (good thing). There is also no chance you’re going to scratch your iPad with installation and removal since it’s plastic, plastic typically has a tendency to break, but I didn’t get that vibe off of this specific plastic formula, but for those just in case scenarios where your dog gets a hold of it, they gave you extra plastic holders for your iPad.

So build quality is a definitely not an issue!

To buy, or not to buy?

Accessories are difficult to give a definitive buy or not buy, and the FridgePad is no exception! If you’re someone who is in the kitchen a lot, and don’t have a lot of shelf space, then this is a definite buy.

Ff you’re someone who uses white boards often, you’ll love this product. I personally design web pages, and I like drawing mockups on dry erase boards, so since whiteboards are obviously magnetic, I just put the fridgepad against the dry erase board, and had some designs up on the iPad while I draw out mockups on the draw erase board… so if you’re someone who uses dry erase boards, you NEED this.
