WWDC: iPhone 3GS

Last year was likely to be the most memorable Worldwide Development Conference due to it’s sales. It was the first WWDC to sell EVERY ticket. The main reason why that happened was not because of the developers’ interests in the field, but because of the announcement of the new iPhone 3G, which shortly later became known as the most popular phone in the industry. This year the same happened, with the announcement of the new iPhone 3GS.

Similar to WWDC ‘08 the new iPhone announcement was a huge hit! The first thing that they added was what was definitely necessary: a faster processor. This will help fix some of the long load times that we had a problem with the release of the newer iPhone software updates and the release of newer apps after developers have created. Another feature that has been added to the iPhone 3GS is the camera (finally!). The camera has been upgraded from a miserable 2-megapixel camera to a 3-megapixel camera with auto focus as well as video recording (and editing). Another long awaited feature that has been added is voice control. The battery life is another part of the iPhone that has been expanded as well. Just like last year, the price of the iPhone is the best part. They are keeping the old iPhone 3G (8 GB model) on the market for a small price of $99. The new iPhone 3GS will be for $199 (16GB) and $299 (32GB). After seeing the fixes in the new iPhone, paying extra money for the upgraded version is definitely worth the extra charge.
