The Floppy Disk Is Back!

Yes it’s true, floppy disks are back! Well… kind of, a person was awesome enough to construct a usb flash drive but used a floppy disk as an external enclosure.

Honestly, I don’t know if I’m the only one, but I really liked floppies despite their minuscule amount of space. Floppies were incredibly cheap and just easy to take on the go. I still remember the Windows 98 days where I had a poop ton of floppies. They were super helpful whenever I had to take a quick file somewhere, and it wasn’t a big deal if I lost it. It was also handy if you have to give someone a file in person (then again thanks to the internet that’s not really a big concern anymore). Unfortunately in current times although we have flash drives which are superior in almost every way, you do miss that convenience since they aren’t as low cost. If you need to take something really quick and you don’t have time to look for your flash drive, you’re just about fracked.

Most of those concerns aren’t really a big deal, since for me I have my main flash drive on my car keys, so losing it is just about impossible. I’ll make sure to try a project exactly like this or similar to when I have time and post my own final product!
